Chair

Jason is the Chair of Chord Advisory and is a non-executive director of a number of companies in the renewable energy and critical minerals sectors. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Prior to his role at Chord Advisory, Jason was the General Counsel of The Minderoo Foundation and Tattarang group of companies. The Minderoo Foundation is Australia’s largest Foundation and was established by Dr Andrew Forrest AO and Nicola Forrest AO. Tattarang is the private investment group of Andrew and Nicola Forrest. Tattarang invests across a wide variety of sectors and asset classes, including in real assets, and public and private markets.

Jason was at Herbert Smith Freehills for 30 years before joining Minderoo and Tattarang, 24 of those as a partner specialising in infrastructure projects in the water, power, health and transport sectors.

During that time, Jason was a member of the Board of Freehills that oversaw the global merger with UK firm Herbert Smith, and sat on the Global Executive of the merged Herbert Smith Freehills with responsibility for leading the Australian Region, and then leading the firm’s global Finance, Real Estate, Projects and Latin American business. Jason was regularly named in multiple areas of the AFR “Best Lawyers” during his time at HSF.

David is a projects, construction and infrastructure lawyer who works with private sector clients and all levels of government on a range of property development, infrastructure, construction and outsourcing projects across a number of Australian and international jurisdictions.

David spent a successful 25 years with global law firm Herbert Smith Freehills – 14 years as a partner, and 3 years as the head of the Projects, Energy and Infrastructure section in Perth – before branching out to establish Chord Advisory.

He also spent several years in the interim in the United Kingdom, working predominantly on PPP/PFI, energy and construction projects.

David is regularly named in the AFR ‘Best Lawyers’ list and Doyle’s Guide in the areas of Construction/Infrastructure, Real Estate, Mining, Government Practice and Health Care. He has also been named:

  • Australasian Lawyers’ Weekly ‘Partner of the Year’ in “Construction and Infrastructure”;
  • AFR Best Lawyers “Health & Aged Care Lawyer of the Year”;
  • AFR Best Lawyers “Property Lawyer of the Year”,

and headed the legal team that recently won the Infrastructure Partnerships Australia ‘Advisory Excellence’ award.

David is a member of the Society of Construction Lawyers Australia and the WA Law Society, and is also admitted to practise in the United Kingdom.

Alanna is a projects, infrastructure and general commercial lawyer with extensive experience in both private practice and inhouse roles.

Alanna was a Senior Associate at global law firm Herbert Smith Freehills, based in Perth and then Sydney. Alanna advised on a range of infrastructure and outsourcing projects with a particular focus on social infrastructure and complex services transactions.

In her most recent roles, Alanna has held senior in-house legal and risk positions in the healthcare sector, and was Head of Legal at Advara HeartCare (formerly GenesisCare) before joining Chord Advisory. During this time, she advised on a broad range of commercial matters including strategic projects, services arrangements and structuring, procurement, property and construction. Alanna also advised extensively on contract implementation and management, regulatory compliance, and general risk management, with a particular focus on data governance.

Alanna is a member of the WA Law Society and is a 2025 graduate of the Engaging Young Leaders on Aged Care & Community Boards Program.

Jacques Giuffre

Jacques is a projects, infrastructure and general commercial lawyer with a focus on technology and intellectual property transactions and data, security and privacy issues. Jacques has advised across government and business on many major, strategic and complex technology projects.

Jacques has deep experience leading and negotiating major technology transactions, including digital infrastructure, transformation projects and complex data migrations, as well as business process optimisation and outsourcing, software procurement, technology and IP licensing and protection and the IP and technology aspects of major infrastructure projects, including wind farms, battery energy storage systems, hospitals and other large projects.

Jacques spent 12 years at global law firm Herbert Smith Freehills and most recently led the Perth technology and intellectual property practice. Prior to legal practice, Jacques was an IT consultant working on systems implementation and performance monitoring for major government and corporate clients.

Jacques has been featured from 2023 to 2025 in the Best Lawyers “Ones to Watch” for Privacy and Data Security Law and co-authored “Six Levels of Contract Automation: Further Analysis of the Evolution to Smart Legal Contracts”, a chapter of Smart Legal Contracts: Computable Law in Theory and Practice, 2022, Oxford University Press.

Tony is a Senior Advisor within the Chord Advisory team.

He is a lawyer, director and commercial advisor.

He is currently Chair of the Lions Eye Institute, the Committee for Perth and the WA Justice Association, as well as a director of the Health Translation network. He is past Chair of Scitech, and long serving board member of the WA Chamber of Commerce and Herbert Smith Freehills.

He has previously served as senior partner, and managing partner, at Herbert Smith Freehills, where he specialised in general commercial law, including technology and IT, infrastructure and healthcare.

Business Development and Office Manager

Tana leads Chord Advisory’s business development efforts, bringing a strategic and relationship-driven approach to client engagement.

With over 15 years’ experience supporting professional services firms—most recently at global law firm Herbert Smith Freehills—she works closely with the Chord Advisory team to deliver tailored solutions for clients.

Tana also supports the internal operations of the office. Her ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on support ensures Chord Advisory’s operations run smoothly and with purpose.
